I had a productive day!!!!  I woke up around 6 AM after having a WONDERFUL nights sleep (rare for me).  I had to go to plan B for my workout!  Plan A was 2 miles on the “Green Bridge” but I needed  to wake when the alarm went off at 5 AM (Totally slept through it).  So Plan B was 2 miles on the treadmill!!!  I also danced to 4 songs (Bad Romance, Daddy’s Home, Too legit Too Quit, and Pleasure Principle)  A great calorie burn!!  When I was on the treadmill, “Survivor” By destiny’s Child came on the ipod!!  I started to really listen to the words!!!!  I am TOTALLY A SURVIVOR, I’m NOT gonna give up!!!  LOL!!!  I also did 2oo crunches and an upper body circuit workout!! (Great Stuff)  I took a shower, made my green smoothie and headed to Arcadia (2 hour drive for a nursing home that Is a workout consisting of 25-35 patients treated ON MY KNEES!!!!!)  So that was my second workout!!! (25 squats) 😉

I was there for about 2 hours, then I headed back home!!   Listened to some AWESOME tunes and a few Great podcasts.  I had my first conference call with Kimmie and Kim (our Bodybugg coach from the @Skinny_Scoopers challenge!!!  I learned soooooo much information!!!  I am excited to apply the knowledge!!!  I was feeling so POSITIVE, STRONG, EXCITED, and DETERMINED!!!!

There were many “Like Minded” Individuals out there!!!!   I was On Cloud 9 until I bumped into Mrs.  Dream Killer!!!!   I ignored, however, there was a slight kink in my TOTALLY EXCITED ARMOR,  This kink was repaired as soon as I got home and a POSITIVE INFLUENCE in my LIFE, Shared a “Precious Moment” with me…..  The take home message of the day…. SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVITY!!!!!!  DON’T give the DREAM KILLERS the POWER to Steal your Dreams!!  EMBRACE the PRECIOUS MOMENTS along the JOURNEY!!!!

 What a rollercoaster of a day!!!  I woke up early today.  I felt refreshed from a good night’s sleep (getting to bed early just like I planned).  I had my green smoothie with spinach, mango, blueberries, whey, psyllium, flax seed and wheat germ (Breakfast of Champions).  I packed my gym bag and headed to the Tuesday nursing home.  All was going according to plan!!  I had a patient sing to me..”You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine.  You make me happy, when skies are gray.  you never know, dear, how much I love you.  Please don’t take my Sunshine away!!”  She had a Beautiful voice!!  I was going from room to room, doing my thing when I ran into a new rehab patient.  She  had neuropathy.  I began to debride her nails and I noticed that her big toe had dried blood on the tip.  I cleansed the area to find the source of the drainage and I noticed that she was missing the tip of her toe.  There was a steel pin exposed from a bunion surgery performed 20 years ago!!  The patient denied any trauma to the toe.  She couldn’t feel her feet so she was completely UNAWARE that the pin worked its way through the tissue.  I had to inform her of the status of her toe.  I have wound consults all the time, but I was consulted to see her for diabetic nail care!!  This was yet ANOTHER wake up call for me!!  I’m YOUNG and HEALTHY and it will ALL change IF I DON’T get the weight off and live a healthier lifestyle!! 

Still keeping to my plan, I went to my NM office, did a little paperwork, changed clothes and I was OFF TO THE GYM!!!  I did a KILLER lower body/core routine (generated by dailyburn.com and revised by moi) I felt STRONG!!!! After which, I slid into the last 20 min of a spin class!!!  (I must RE-Introduce my BOOTY to the SPINNING BIKE SEAT!!!  This was a Hills spin class so I was out of the saddle for most of the ride!!! YIPEE!!  I just wish the spin bikes had a distance reading OR than my Garmin could record a stationary bike!!!  Unfortunately, neither are true….

I went home, took a shower and began to make dinner for my WEEKLY Biggest Loser Par-Tay!!!  Spaghetti:  Wheat Pasta, ground turkey breast, and a killer salad!!! 

 This Biggest Loser episode was the “marathon” episode!!!  So much fun tweeting with my Biggest Loser Tweethearts!!!  I’m going to do a post with their blog links next week for the finale!  😉  Had a few tweets from @Tara_Costa (Who held the BL marathon record before last night) and @Ali_Sweeney who took it like a champ when I asked her if one of her tweets was english!!!  LOL!!!  We laugh, cry and even workout OR should I say #Tworkout during commercial breaks of Biggest Loser as @AprilShowrs of @shrinkingjeans tweets out exercises for us to do after 9 PM!!!  #GoodTimes  Watching the marathon unfold last night brought up strong emotions!!!  Exciting memories of watching Trish and Jenn of @FitBottomedGirl run their marathon in Jan. Excitement for Lori @slorunnermom who will be running her VERY FIRST MARATHON on 10/10/10 in Chicago with US, her Blackberry hearts cheering her on!!! (Yes, we ALL are planning to be there!!)  Some things were said to me via blackberry that made me think…I will dedicate a future post to that topic!! (Stay Tuned)

The Proudest, most Touching moment for me, last night was when former Biggest loser contestants were meeting the runners on the route to run with current contestants and give them support and encouragement!!!  @Ali_Sweeney Tweeted :  “Who would you want to run with you? #BL9”  to My SURPRISE….This tweet popped on my screen….

 Hello friends!!!  Im going to get my work done early today YaY ME!!!!!!ANd My NurSe iS the BesT donT kNow What I am Going To Do When She Goes on VacAtion!!!! =(  <~ This was written by my DEVILISH NURSE while I was with a patient!!  I was going to erase it BUT I decided to leave it to show you what I have to deal with Monday through Friday!!!!  Oy Vey!!! LOL!!!

So, Today is the beginning of my workout and Dinner completed by 9 PM and In Bed by 11 PM!!!  I have set a few more goals for myself this week!!  They are as follows:

1.  Bike At Least 5 Miles/Day Monday-Saturday

2.  Resistance training 4 Days this week

3.  200 crunches/daily

4.  25 pushups/daily

5.  Yoga/Pilates 3 times/week

6.  Increase my protein intake/decrease my carb intake (Nothing drastic..just a little switch up to shock my system this week)

7.  8 glasses of H2O/day (Water only in the month of May)

So…. there you have it!!!  My patients AND charts are finished here in Arcadia!!  My ride is here and I’m heading home!!  So, what goals do you have set for yourself?!?

The Picture I Took This Morning AFTER My Run/Walk

 

This has been a VERY EXCITING week!  I was challenged by @kthenb to walk/run 3 miles Monday-Friday of this week.  I’m PROUD to report that WE DID IT!!!  I set a goal and achieved it!!!  It felt WONDERFUL!!!  This was in addition to the challenge I received from @slorunnermom on the dailyburn.com to complete 100 miles (running BUT she is gracefully allowing me to count ALL my miles 😉 ) She also challenged me to 100 miles biking!!!  I plan to “ride out” later today!!!  (I’m 16 miles behind her!!!)  I purchased a Garmin Forerunner 405.  I’m still trying to figure it out BUT when I manage to get it to work, it is an awesome training tool!!!  I have developed an accountability group for my diet!!  (Kat, Terri, and Kimmie) We send our logs to each other daily with our exercise included as well!!!  This is a great tool to help keep the bad food choices few and far between!!!  I have ONLY CONSUMED WATER for the month of May!  Another one of Kimmie’s Bright ideas!!!  It was hard at first BUT it’s getting easier!!!  I’m still able to drink my green smoothies in the morning for breakfast!!!  These little ditties give me soooooo much energy!!!  Starts my day off right!!!  Whenever I have a birthday, I evaluate where I am in my life!!!  I’m pretty darn happy with the direction my life is taking!!!  I decided to Add A Little “Spice” to my life in the form of a “Road Race” in January!!  Details a little later BUT for now, just know that I am moving daily, headed to becoming a
“Lean mean fighting machine”  I am also doing 200 crunches a day to get my abs TIGHT!!!  If EVERYTHING goes according to plan, I will get my belly button RE-pierced in Chicago in October when we go to watched @slorunnermom compete in her FIRST MARATHON EVER!!!!!!! (I’m SO EXCITED for her!!!)  So if you see me on twitter/Facebook/Myspace/Dailymile/or DailyBurn, ask me how my abs are coming along!!!  Help Keep me focused!!! 😉  This (the following video is just ONE of my “Ab Inspirations” (Janet Jackson is my number) 

Sooooo…. I was riding to the store yesterday and “talking” to a close friend of mine (that I havent met…YET) We were talking about this weeks successes and not quite successes.  Out of the blue, she asked me “What are you afraid of?  You have ALL the KNOWLEDGE/TOOLS to SUCCEED, so what is your damage?”  After I got over my initial annoyance that she would even have the NERVE to ask me such a thing, I began to look inside so that I could give her MY TRUTH!  It ISNT a fear of success!!  I Pride myself on being a SUCCESSFUL BLACK WOMAN!!  I LOVE to set goals and ACCOMPLISH them!!  It’s not childhood damage!!  I had THE BEST CHILDHOOD EVER!!  I’m NOT an Overeater… More times than not, I skip meals and UNDER EAT!! (I’m doing much better now) 

MY PROBLEM….. My “WHY” for WHY AM I STILL OVERWEIGHT?!?!? 

I Put EVERYONE’S NEEDS Before MY OWN!!!!! 

Carla has been trying to help me with this for a while but I really didn’t think it had anything to do with my weightloss….I WAS WRONG!!!!  I have ALL THE KNOWLEDGE!!!  ALL THE TOOLS!!!  I will set up a PLAN, go to bed, wake up, and Begin to make OTHERS Happy…. My Patients, Friends, Significant other, kids…..By the time I get to ME, I’m EXHAUSTED!!!  I tell myself … its ok, TOMORROW will be ALL ABOUT ME!!  I wake the next day and do THE EXACT SAME THING!!!!   

INSANITY:  DOING THE SAME THING AND EXPECTING A DIFFERENT RESULT!! 

I’m smarter than this!!!  So, there!!!  I’ve found my WHY!!!  Now its time to CHANGE IT UP!!! 

STARTING TONIGHT…. Dinner AND Workouts completed by 9.  In bed AND lights out by 11!!!  This is just the tip of the ice berg!!  Full details coming soon!!  Please help me keep these goals!!  WE ARE A TEAM!!!  Ok, I’m going to end here…for now… Thanks Kimmie….For being MY MIRROR!!!

Hello My Dearest readers!!!  This is the beginning of My “Birthday Week”!!  I had a WONDERFUL week of SUCCESS last week!!!  I’m looking to TOP IT this week!!!  There are a few goals I plan to accomplish this week!!

GOALS

1.  Cook Dinner Tues, Wed, and Thurs night (as per @kthenb)

2.  Complete week 2 of Push up/situp 6 week challenge (as per @slorunnermom)

3.  Drink 3L of H2O Daily

4.  Do my Reiki exercises Daily (as per @dailykat)

5.  Disconnect one night this week (as per @MizFitonline)

6.  In Bed by 10:30, Lights out at 11

7.  Work out 2x a day (Monday-Friday)

8.  PUT MYSELF FIRST

Okie Dokie!!! There you have it!!!  I WILL have 100% SUCCESS this week…MY BIRTHDAY WEEK!!!!  Keep an EYE on me…Check in on me and let me know that you’ve got my back!!! BTW….

APRIL 14, 2010

12:01 AM…..This AMAZING Day began!!  I had 2 missions for this day! 1.  Be the first to wish my Dear friend Lori happy birthday and 2.  receive my first Reiki attunement.  The first mission was accomplished with perfect timing!!  Staying  up this late has its drawbacks.   I OVERSLEPT for my workout!!  No worries (I thought to myself) I will get in my cardio after work.  I had a hectic day in the Health Center (as always).  I left around 2:30 and headed home to get mentally prepared to receive my Reiki Attunement.  I changed into relaxing attire and called my Dear friend @dailykat . She is my guide/teacher on this journey.   After we spoke, I went to my relaxing spot, set up as she suggested.  I relaxed, grounded myself , and accepted the Reiki Attunement from Kat.  Ahhhhhhhh……The EXPERIENCE was, in a word…FANTABULOUS!!!!!  I felt more ALIVE, more ENERGETIC, More RELAXED than I have in a VERY LONG TIME!!!!!!  I looked on my blackberry in the group and saw that My Dear friend @kthenb had just completed a 5K…FOR FUN!!! I also knew that my “Twin” @teetee_71 was crushing it on the bike at the gym!!  Feeling BRAND NEW and completely and totally INSPIRED, I decided to catch the sunset 5 minutes from my house and walk/jog a 5K!!  I DID IT!!!  It was BEAUTIFUL!!  I took  ALL OF YOU WITH ME!!!
